LIEN (Caution) – Restricted Shares in Account

LIEN (Caution) – Restricted Shares in Account

Problem Description

This occurs when an investor’s shares are placed under lien (caution), restricting the shares for regulatory reasons. While the investor can trade other shares, the affected shares cannot be used.
⚠️
Lien placements usually result from system migrations, regulatory directives (e.g., AMCON), or court orders.

Step-by-Step Resolution

For Migration-Related Restrictions:
1. The broker sends an email to our contact center team, attaching all required documentation relevant to the restriction.
✅
- Valid Means of Identification
- Indemnity Letter
- Proof of Share Ownership
2. Our team reviews and processes the request upon receipt of complete and valid documentation.

3. Our team sends a response email to the broker confirming whether the lien release has been processed or providing further guidance if additional action is required.

For AMCON-Related Restrictions:
Broker is required to engage directly with AMCON or the relevant regulator to resolve the restriction before CSCS can act.

Expected Resolution Timeline

Migration-related cases: Within 24 business hours of receiving a complete complaint and all required documentation.

Additional Tips / Notes

1. CSCS cannot lift lien arising from regulatory or court instructions without evidence of clearance from the issuing authority.
2. Incomplete documentation will delay resolution.
